Why Is Yogurt Good for the Body?

Yogurt has been around for thousands of years now. These agricultural animals were the source of the daily milk that they used before. In order to prolong the life of the milk, it was soured. Soft cheese was made from the soured milk for their immediate use and hard cheese was made for the lean winter months.

Many cuisines use soured food. There are many forms of cultured milk products that people use in many parts of the world. Digestion and assimilation of food is helped by ingesting sour foods. It can also help prevent illness.

Yogurt is a product made of fresh milk which is curdled by bacteria. it is a complete protein food and it comparable to meat and eggs. It is rich in vitamins A, B, and D. Yogurt contains twenty two amino acid just like any protein does. Since yogurt is pre-digested food, it is easily absorbed and assimilated in the body when it is broken down by enzymes in our intestines.

Even sick individuals can tolerate yogurt since it is pre-digested. When taking antibiotics, yogurt is beneficial since it prevents the destruction of friendly bacteria in the gut. Yogurt can be absorbed even by those who cannot digest milk without any harmful effects.

When you take yogurt, you protect your colon health and your immune system.

Yogurt helps repopulate colon flora. With a healthy colon flora, you will have a healthy body and mind. It balances the pH level in your stomach so it gives you better digestion and faster absorption of nutrients into your bloodstream. Yogurt also coats the surface or the stomach lining and intestines to protect it and prevent the formation of ulcers.

If the digestion is balanced, then the immune system can effectively respond to bacteria and other body invaders. When yogurt or friendly bacteria is present in the body, it has better chances of protecting itself from intestinal and external toxins, and pathogens.

The following tips can help you to buy the best yogurt.

Check the container of the yogurt you are buying if it contains live bacteria. As long as it says the word live or active bacteria it is good enough even if the name of the bacteria is not indicated.

Read the container if it has sugar, honey, or fruit. Buy yogurt products that don’t contain these ingredients.

You can take honey or fruit with your yogurt just before taking the yogurt. Use honey sparingly with yogurt.

The expiration date of the product should be checked. If the expiry date is at least seven to ten days away , then it is still good to buy it.

Always put yogurt in a cold place since heat can destroy the live bacteria which benefits your body.
